Playing our part
Our engineers have automated 95% of letter processing in Royal Mail, this means a higher capacity for processing mail with greater accuracy. But we’re still aiming higher, with a target to upgrade our parcels and letters processes to 80% automation. This kind of drive helps us to evolve, the innovative and experimental mind-set spreads across the business, as evidence to our values, we are being positive and brilliant, and we’re part of Britain’s future.
Day to day life
The engineers work in groups of 6/7, consistently working alongside the same team to build strong relationships, solving problems together and helping each other develop. All with the support of an experienced manager who leads by example.
Meet Sophie
Sophie is an Automation Engineer in Carlisle. She joined Royal Mail as an Apprentice and hasn’t stopped learning since. The variety of work combined with the supportive culture means she’s always learning and taking on new responsibilities. Watch her film and find out what she’s been up to.
Meet our engineer apprentices
An apprenticeship offers the learning, support and hands-on experience you need to kick-start your career. Listen to some of our senior leaders who run the programme and the apprentices who are actually on it and hear what they think the opportunities are. If you’re ready to take every opportunity, this video will help show you what could be in store for you.
