This is a Hybrid Working role with a requirement to attend your closest geographical office, Chesterfield or London, three days per week.

Reporting into the Financial Accounting and External Supporting Lead, you will assist in the production of accurate, and timely, year end and half year Group consolidated Financial Statements and Financial Statements for the Group’s UK subsidiaries and Regulated business.
What will your job look like?
You will be a key stakeholder in the provision of specific financial accounting information, both internally and externally. Alongside this, you’ll be a crucial point of contact for technical accounting guidance across the business, including any developments in new or revised accounting standards.
Key tasks in role:
• Preparation of the Group Financial Statements and supporting notes in the Half year and Full year announcements, ensuring that any relevant, new accounting standards/FRC guidance have been incorporated
• Analysis of Group accounts consolidation schedules and preparation of the primary statements in the year end and half year financial statements
• Ensure that the Group’s UK lease accounting is complete and accurate, including review of modifications and remeasurements, in line with IFRS 16
• Key point of contact for the external auditor throughout the audit process, providing information as required
• Ensure robust and accurate accounting for share based payments, including review and management of externally sourced information
• Assist with the preparation and review of the Group’s UK subsidiary company financial statements
• Preparation of the cash flow statement in the monthly Corporate Scorecard, working with key stakeholders in determining a robust analysis of cash flow, including specifically, working capital
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Management of monthly journals process for certain UK subsidiaries.
• Provision of information to the ONS and other external and internal stakeholders relating to Royal Mail’s financial performance
What do you need to succeed?
To truly excel in this role, you’ll possess, and be able to evidence, the essential skills and experience listed below:
Essential skills
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS, preferably in a large organisation/plc
• Effective stakeholder management
• Strong Excel skills (vlookups, pivots etc)
Essential experience
• Up-to-date knowledge and experience of IFRS
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, but still maintain accuracy and attention to detail
• Good organisational skills, able to manage and prioritise your own workload and work on own initiative
• A team player but also capable of working on your own
• Strong interpersonal skills – you will need to be able to communicate complex accounting concepts to senior management.
• Analytical and problem-solving capability
• A continuous improvement mindset – a desire to improve processes and make efficiencies
