Starting salary of £30,796 plus a 10% on target bonus, 25 days annual leave and pension.  Based on working 20 hours per week this equates to a starting salary of £15,110.

What does the role involve?

At Royal Mail we have 1,400 operational units around the country, all making sure that the mail is collected, sorted and delivered six days a week. Our Delivery Office Managers are integral to making sure our units run as smoothly as possible to deliver every item and build trust with customers. Our operation needs to be resilient, and we need with the flexibility to run things when our permanent mangers are unavailable. That’s where our Cover Managers come in. Dedicated to supporting a cluster of delivery offices, you’ll stand in for the Delivery Office Manager in their absence.  


This is a hands-on role where you will be accountable for a team of posties, supporting them as they prepare to deliver mail. There are many factors that go into ensuring a successful shift and we have a range of measures in place to ensure we’re hitting our customer, finance and efficiency targets. You’ll have the training to help you achieve these, as well as your supportive team.

Where will I work?

The role is required to provide managerial cover for in Exeter for 3 days and Paignton  and Exeter SPDO for one day each.  The typical hours are 06:15am – 10:15am working 5 days between Monday to Saturday (with a rotational day off).  You must have the ability to travel to the offices where you work where public transport may not be available.

Assessment Process


Your face to face assessment is designed to enable you to showcase your suitability for management positions within Royal Mail.  You will take part in a capability-based interview and a short management scenario exercise more details of which will be provided on the day.
