The Role
Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Facilities Maintenance Team.  
 
Full Time 37.5 hours per week - typical attendance will be 07:00 until 15:00 or 08:00 until 16:00 Monday to Friday.

 

Flexibility on start time between 07:00 and 08:00. Opportunities for overtime as this building operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week


We are looking to offer Permanent contracts. 
 
What does Excellence look like in this role? 
In this role, you will be expected to have excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical power and control wiring and test inspection of electrical installations. The Engineer will be expected to work on multiple FM systems with the majority of the work being Lift maintenance. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to discuss work and progress with customers and managers. You will also have excellent organisational skills.
 

You are required to have a full UK Driving Licence.

 

Who will this role work with to achieve excellence? 

You will report directly into the Area Manager and will work with customers on site, other engineers and sub-contractors on a daily basis

 

What needs to be done in this role to achieve this? 

  • Analyse and understand technical issues in relation to Electrical
  • Maintenance of the 23 lifts in the building
  • Manage jobs in a proactive manner to ensure all KPI’s are met
  • Deliver excellent technical results as part of the team
  • Maintenance of electrical systems on site
  • Coordination of subcontractors on site
  • Take a proactive approach to working with RMPFS support functions to ensure smooth running of operations on site
  • Maintenance of M&E equipment and Lifts on site to a high standard
  • Liaise with customers’ representatives on a day to day basis to ensure customer requirements are fully met.
  • Build and maintain key customer relationships
  • Checking and ensuring all appropriate and approved paperwork is completed.
  • Supply knowledge in a range of technical situations, making personal judgments on how to undertake work to achieve quality, cost and time objectives
  • Assist in the development of other onsite engineers
  • Coach and support engineers and subcontractors on site
     

What technical knowledge, skills and experience is required? 

  • The role holder must hold an Electrical certification such as the 17th/18th edition along with a Lift qualification.
  • Planned maintenance experience of electrical systems alongside one other core skill to include Lifts
  • Experience of working in pressurised situations, with the ability to handle pressure and prioritise work
  • Maintenance experience within electrical systems
  • Experience in fault finding and diagnosis with the ability to provide advice and guidance to others across all systems where required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues.
  • The ability to analyse and understand complex technical issues in relation to electrical systems
  • Experience of assisting with training, coaching or development of engineers
  • Must have a flexible approach to work
