Job purpose

  • Has end to end accountability for Programme Managing the project delivery process, ensuring that selected suppliers and project teams to deliver within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality.

Key accountabilities

  • Identify, plan and coordinate the set of projects within a programme of business change to deliver defined outcomes and related business benefits on the BIG and Enterprise Tooling & Innovation Platforms
  • Constructive input into the Platforms’ strategy, roadmap and business cases
  • Accountable for execution of the programme/project management processes to ensure delivery, in line with RMG policies and methods including project control, risk management, change management, issue resolution, progress reporting, project documentation & administration, and quality reviews
  • Management of suppliers from the approved panel, to deliver the specified requirements within RMG policies & methods; including due diligence on supplier capabilities relative to requirements
  • Provision of accurate programme/project costing, including supplier quotes & tenders, required as input to the Business Case
  • Managing suppliers and project team to deliver the project within the Business Case, to the required time, cost & quality
  • Facilitating testing signoff by users, and transitioning into on-going service and project closure
  • Plan and monitor programme/projects; agree plans with the Sponsors / Steering Board and submit regular status reports indicating any deviations from plan at either stage or project level and any corrective action taken
  • Responsible for overall progress & use of resources.  Initiate corrective action when necessary. Manage risks & contingency, escalating major risks & proposing possible solutions to Business Partners and Programme managers where necessary
  • Manage project scope and change control and escalate issues where necessary
  • Co-ordinate communication as agreed in the Communication Plan

Key dimensions        

  • Operates within agreed cost/time/quality parameters. Has sufficient credibility and gravitas, and ability to work with and relate to a highly demanding internal client base and complex external supplier base.  Appreciation of how the architecture, policies and governance are applied to delivery of the project

Key competencies

  • Experience of delivering infrastructure based projects in a multi-supplier environment
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an agile environment and capable of deploying and working within the agile principles and methodologies
  • Understanding of  Infrastructure as a Service, Containerisation etc and how it is applied to the delivery process
  • Operates within agreed cost/time/quality parameters,  Has sufficient credibility and gravitas, and ability to work with and relate to a highly demanding internal client base and complex external supplier base
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects
  • Proven track record of leading and managing onshore and far shore teams
  • Stakeholder and project lifecycle (end to end) experience is required
  • Ideal candidate should be a self starter and be able to stand by their convictions within decision making.
  • History of developing and maintaining relationship with both internal and external parties
  • Appreciation of how all the architecture, policies and governance are applied to delivery of the project
  • A direct, straightforward style, able to cut to the core quickly
  • Excellent people management skills, able to manage upwards and influence in a complex environment
  • In-depth understanding of business, with a desire to contribute in a collaborative, team based environment, beyond the direct remit of the position
