Job Purpose

 

End to end accountability for the management of one of more Technology related projects based on scale and complexity

 

In this role your key accountabilities will be:

 

Establishing a project

  • Scope: Defining and agreeing project scope using established tools and techniques
  • Stakeholders: Identifying and engaging all project stakeholders and preparing a stakeholder matrix and developing and implementing an appropriate communication plan
  • Investment: Supporting or leading in the securing of investment by providing time, resource and cost estimates together with risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions
  • Resources: Defining a project team and sourcing 
  • Mobilisation: Production and distribution of all key mobilisation artefacts such as RACI matrices, Project Initiation Documents, collaboration tools, running project initiation workshops, implementing governance

Plan/Monitor/Control

  • Leadership of the Project team to deliver against agreed metrics for time, cost and quality
  • Manage the project in line with an agreed methodology
  • Act as Systems Integrator, bringing together all internal and external supplier deliverables to ensure delivery of a complete end-to-end solution that is assured against the current agreed specification
  • Create an agreed schedule baseline and maintain under strict change control
  • Establish and maintain unambiguous controls (Constraints; Actions; Risks; Dependencies; Deliverables; Decisions; Issues; Change; Assumptions)
  • Establish and operate Financial control
  • Ongoing proactive management of stakeholders and project communication
  • Agree span of control (management by exception/ tolerances)
  • Establish project meeting cadence
  • Establish project reporting processes
  • Agree formal project gateways and corporate governance obligations
  • Comply with data and cyber security obligations 
  • Ensure Business Change activities are in place appropriate to the Project(s)
  • Escalate as and when necessary via the established governance routes

Closing

  • Establish and execute an agreed transition plan with BAU teams
  • Controlled project closure (project site; finances; user acceptance; service acceptance; gateway; project review artefacts) 

Compliance

  • Act in accordance will all current and relevant Royal Mail policies

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

 

  • Strong experience of successfully delivering technology projects following project management principles
  • Communication – High degree of competence in verbal communication to a broad audience and excellent, clear and succinct written communication
  • Demonstrate persistence and drive to maintain progress and resolve issues
  • Effective stakeholder and people management
  • Commercial acumen and value driven supplier management
  • Autonomous operator 
  • Tenacious problem solver who escalates strictly by exception when appropriate
  • Solution focussed and highly collaborative
  • Customer centric focus to deliver value efficiently
