Job Purpose

 

  • We are looking for a Senior Product Owner to have end-to-end accountability for delivery across technology products and where needed, across Business units. 
  • You will be responsible for articulating business requirements to the development team in the form of epics, features and stories. 
  • You will work with business and project stakeholders to prioritise those stories, manage the domain and team backlog and work closely with the development team to help them understand the desired outcome. 
  • A key part of the role is translating complex business problems into clear solutions and helping the team further elaborate those solutions.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Elaborate features into user stories that conform to the Definition of Ready at each stage of the development lifecycle with a focus on the user journey with clear acceptance criteria
  • Work ahead of the development team to ensure requirements are ready in time for the development team to begin work on them
  • Collaborate with business and project stakeholders to size and prioritise the portfolio backlog according to commercial value
  • Represent the voice of the customer throughout the development lifecycle including sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives 
  • Work on a day-to-day basis with the development team to clarify the requirements and act as the interface between engineering and the business stakeholders
  • Sign-off (‘accept’) stories when they are complete and confirm they meet the required acceptance criteria and the Definition of Done
  • Creating a compelling user experience, expressed through user journeys, wireframes and prototypes
  • Support business stakeholders to construct longer term strategy, vision and related roadmaps together with capacity planning and demand for longer term product/platform strategy
  • Ensure, in collaboration with SMEs and Solution Architects, that non-functional requirements are captured

 

Qualifications and experience required:

 

  • You will ideally have proven experience across enterprise product delivery with excellent knowledge of industry best practices in a commercial environment. Ideally you should have experience in most of the following areas:
  • Deep experience acting as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in an agile environment.
  • Track record of decomposing large, complex problems into meaningful, easy to understand requirements that can be implemented iteratively in short timeframes.
  • Proven experience of empowering, enabling, supporting and motivating product teams.
  • Experience with scalable, mission critical enterprise software solutions
  • Proven strategic partner experience with product direction, strategic enhancement, beta product testing or industry events preferred.
  • A recognized project and programme management methodology. E.g. Prince 2, Kanban, SAFe.
  • Experience of going through the transformation from Waterfall to Agile delivery.
  • Confident and comfortable presenting to audiences from a broad variety of backgrounds
  • Assertive yet pragmatic and empathetic attitude
