We are looking for a Privacy Officer to join our award-winning team at Royal Mail. Interested? More details and how to apply can be found below.

As a Privacy Officer you will be involved in all aspects of Data Privacy, enabling Royal Mail Group and its subsidiaries to comply with their obligations under data protection and privacy laws. This includes data subject access and other rights requests, internal enquiries and complaints, data breach reporting (including external escalation) and enquiries relating to personal information.

This is a Hybrid working role with a requirement to attend our Sheffield office every Tuesday and two further days, with flexibility required in line with business needs.

About the role
You will be primarily responsible for handling and managing individual requests from Data Subjects from initial contact through to final reply. Key to this role is the ability to gather and review information relevant to casework in line with the legislation, ensure it is handled correctly and reviewed appropriately, maintain accurate records, and provide advice and support to other functions in relation to data protection and privacy legislation.

Be responsible for gathering and reviewing information from across RMG in response to subject access requests and in relation to other information rights requests within the necessary timescales for RMG to comply with its statutory obligations.

You will investigate, report and escalate data protection incidents as well as managing enquiries and complaints relating to RMG’s processing of personal information and provide advice and support to other functions and colleagues dealing with data protection and information governance issues, promoting compliance with RMG strategy, framework, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable law.

About You
To truly excel in this role, you’ll possess, and be able to evidence, the essential skills and experience listed below:
•    Good knowledge and experience working in a data protection, information rights or records and information management role
•    Good working knowledge of RMG and the way it operates

•    Ability to adapt in a changing business environment and to embrace and implement change
•    Willing to take on new challenges, additional responsibilities and changes in role
•    Ability to manage competing priorities and balance conflicting stakeholder requirements
•    Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills.  This is vital for research and collation of data from stakeholders at all levels of Royal Mail Group.

We don’t expect every candidate to meet the full criteria for the role. If your experience looks a little different from the job requirements, but you feel you have the relevant skills to bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you.
