Parcelforce Worldwide are looking for an Engineering Manager based within our Coventry and Hatfield Hubs to provide leadership, direction and management control and to be accountable for all maintenance activity, automation plans and projects for the National & International Hubs and the manual processing centre (MPC) for the delivery of automation/ configuration standards and employee capability.

 

Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will manage a team of up to 15 engineers and a budget of circa £1M and be responsible for all aspects of engineer manpower and succession planning whilst determining robust and efficient engineering staffing requirements.

 

You will develop and manage the Health and Safety (H&S) calendar, risk assessments and safe systems of work ensuring that H&S standards are designed into maintenance tasks, modifications and new equipment whilst ensuring the compliance of Parcelforce’s H&S policies and procedures.

 

Designing, testing and deploying future maintenance practices and modifications you will measurably drive hub efficiency whilst delivering cost and performance targets and driving continuous improvement

 

About you

 

Having an in-depth knowledge of maintenance tools, techniques and processes you will understand the role of engineering in an automated processing plant.

 

You will have proven experience of managing and leading a large engineering team in the capacity of 1st and 2nd line management in an operational environment  and be able to demonstrate evidence of delivering change in a challenging environment.

 

You will have extensive experience of continuous improvement, good working knowledge of lean production and a proven track record of leading and motivating a large team through change and experience in a unionised environment.

 

A minimim HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering or a scientific discipline is essential for this role, with accreditation to the engineering council (CEng) being ideal.

 

You will have excellent stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills along with a proven track record of people management in a supervisory capacity including performance management.

 

Working in this environment, you will need to use your initiative to make effective decisions, quickly and under pressure.

 

A flexible approach to working hours, as there may be occasions that operational requirements require varied shift patterns. 

 

Health & Safety and Budget Management and experience is required.
