Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions are looking for a Web Developer (maternity cover).

 

You’ll be responsible for designing and the development of effective web based applications and the maintenance of existing systems. You’ll help ensure the smooth running of the call centre platform and on-going service level requirements with support and configuration management of the call centre technical environment.

 

In addition, you’ll incorporate maintaining the technical integrity of the Workplace Intranet, establishing and facilitating the Intranet user group, providing technical development and support to achieve Intranet business goals.

 

About the role
You will oversee P&FS web application development projects, ensuring they are implemented in a consistent and technically excellent way, through detailed gathering of business requirements and providing advice and guidance on appropriate solutions.


As the first point of technical support for the Intranet, web based queries and call centre solutions, you’ll review and maintain recently deployed web applications, ensuring that they remain fit for purpose and respond to change requests in an effective manner.


You will design, develop, test and deploy solutions against often complex business requirements which change the way the business operates, ensuring they are documented correctly, whilst driving continual improvements to Intranet and user functionality.


You’ll apply, test and deploy technical upgrades to the P&FS call centre application, whilst offering 2nd and 3rd  line support to other members of the IS team, acting as a coordinator between the IS team and the Intranet business content owners.

 

The role is a fixed term contract ending May 2020.


About you
With proven web development experience, you will boast expert level knowledge of C# * VB .NET applications, specifically MVC. Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management tools and methodologies would be beneficial.


Being familiar with using the latest MS SharePoint, you will be enthusiastic about using the latest technology and be able to bring new ideas to the team.


With excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, you’ll have experience of working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers translating their requirements into a working product.


A self-starter, with ability to work individually or part of a team from your experiences of working on numerous projects simultaneously, you’ll monitor and review service delivery, identifying learning points and adapting where necessary focussing on ways to improve the customer experience.


This is a technical role so you will need to have proven experience of using the SQL Server 2005-12 alongside having some if not all, of the following experience and knowledge:


• Experience with JavaScript
• Experience coding in HTML
• Some experience with Office 365\SharePoint
• Web services experience
• Proven experience using Visual Studio
• Team Foundation Service experience would be desirable
• TDD exposure would be desirable
• JQuery would be desirable
