We set out to introduce higher precision estimated delivery windows, with time frames as narrow as two hours. This presented a challenge as our parcels are part of a broader traffic mix of which a large portion is not digitally visible. By filtering and linking the 80GB of GPS data that our posties collect each day we could generate a historic data set in combination with scan data, and apply data science models to predict doorstep delivery times. By using cloud solutions and combining regression techniques with confidence; calculations for each address has enabled us to provide reliable delivery windows to customers. This was possible due to excellent data quality, continuous communication and close collaboration.
