An exciting opportunity has arisen at Royal Mail for the role of Customs Capability Manager. In this position, you will lead the business in managing customs requirements, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective solutions. Your pivotal role involves aligning customs systems, software, and operational strategies with overall business objectives to facilitate seamless global trade activities. About the role

 

In this this position you'll:

 

•   Act as the go-to advisor for the business on all matters relating to commercial customs requirements and obligations, keeping up to date with new legislation and case law impacting the sector. 
•    Lead commercial customs discussions with Import and Export products team as well as Sales and Account Managers to review the lifecycle of customs-related products and solutions, identifying new opportunities and ensuring continuous improvement.
•    Lead as key subject matter expert advisor to the internal business and customers 
•    Keep abreast of government, legislation and other changes impacting the sector and ensure RMI is prepared in a timely manner
•    Work closely with all stakeholders across the business for developing fit-for-purpose, compliant and efficient customs solutions
•    Liaise closely with Group Tax and Legal on implementing solutions which maintain an acceptable level of compliance

 

About You

 

•    Degree or equivalent in Customs, International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
•    Extensive years of operational experience in customs operations (desirable: product management and customer experience)
•    Strong understanding of global customs regulations, compliance, and trade laws.
•    Experience managing customs systems, including collaboration with third-party software providers.
•    Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proven experience liaising between departments such as compliance, legal, product, technology, and logistics.
•    Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver bespoke customs solutions.
•    Knowledge of change management processes and software implementation governance. 
•    Experience working in an Agile environment and managing implementation of customs regimes.
