About the role

 

Reporting to the Optimised Production Leader, the Production Supply Manager is part of the Plant Production Control team, responsible for resource planning and fulfilment to support the efficient operation of the Plant. You'll manages a team of administration staff and will be responsible for Plant resource planning and fulfilment, including all elements of absence management, proactive front line training needs identification and scheduling. Accountable for the accuracy and integrity of all hours data recording and measurement. You'll be responsible for ensuring adherence to HR Business Policy on all operational resourcing issues.


The main purpose of this role is to:

 

  • Facilitate the daily, weekly & monthly resourcing of the Plant in a cost effective way using innovative staffing solutions
  • Work with the Production Demand Manager (PDM) and shift managers to forward forecast and deliver Plant resourcing requirements to a six month plan and aligned to key events e.g. Christmas and other seasonal events (plan at least to end of financial year + forward planning for next year plan – to fit in with Finance requirements)
  • Work with the PDM and shift managers to ensure robust plans are in place for seasonal events to ensure clearances are maintained
  • Analyse hours trends to identify efficiency improvements (needs to be working in conjunction with Finance Analysts to ensure any changes cost in)
  • Ensure opportunities for cost reduction are supported by the resourcing plan
  • Support shift managers in identifying front-line skills gaps and ensure requisite training is requested and received
  • Maintain the integrity of all resourcing databases and systems e.g. People Systems Portal
  • Ensure all hours data recording and reporting is robust and to Business standards and timescales
  • Oversee the allocation and effective management to time of all people cases; attendance procedure, conduct, B&H and grievance
  • Develop partnership working with HR and HR services to ensure effective management of pay issues, Plant training and recruitment
  • Undertake legislative requirements for the monitoring and implementation of the Working Time Directive to ensure legal requirements are met

 

About you

 

To truly excel in this role, you’ll possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below: 

 

Knowledge/understanding

  • Extensive knowledge of Operations hours forecasting processes and systems
  • Excellent knowledge or HR policies
  • Working knowledge and understanding of World Class Mail (WCM) tools and techniques
  • Sound knowledge of Recruitment and Interviewing Techniques (RIT)
  • A good understanding of the Working Time Directive, Data Protection Act and other relevant Employment legislation including that relating to the temporary/casual recruitment of overseas students/workers and their right to work in the UK

 

Skills

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to coach, develop and support others
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with ability to present meaningful analysis to others
  • Strong people skills, with ability to build effective relationships across all levels
  • Able to develop plans, assess risks & issues and deploy to cost, quality and timescale parameters
  • Good IT literacy, with ability to use standard Business applications

 

Experience:

  • A good working knowledge of the Plant operations and resource planning
  • Human resources direct or indirect experience
  • Understanding of WCM tools and techniques desirable
  • The ability to convey specific knowledge, with a clear objective, maintaining the focus of the team
