The Role

The salary for this role is from £37,814 to £41,188 per annum dependent on experience plus Outer London weighting allowance of £2,916 per annum.

Opportunity for overtime


35.5 hours per week Full time


Flexibility to cover a 24 hour rota is essential (Nights / Lates / Earlies) 3 week rotation.

Earlies Monday to Thursday: 07:10 - 1500 and Friday: 07:10 - 11:30 / Lates: 14:40 - 22:00 / Nights: 21:40 - 05:00

We are looking to offer Permanent contracts 

As a Processing Engineer you will be required to diagnose and solve equipment problems in a planned, cost effective manner, taking into account employee needs and customer requirements. You will act in accordance with current health and safety legislation, identifying best practice and giving guidance to others. You will be a key member of the team and will develop and maintain customer relationships with key internal customers and suppliers, understanding the view and needs of the customer.

You will be responsible for maintenance, repair and improvement of all parcel handling equipment (PHE). You will supervise contractors and trainee grades assigned to you and carry out “on the job” training and development. You will also be required to carry out mail searches at prescribed times and recover items on patrol which have fallen off or become lodged in the system. You will be expected to perform the following work, according to the nature of your duties and experience with or without assistance:

Preventative and corrective maintenance of all PHE including:


a) belt conveyors, fixed, curved and extending;

b) roller conveyors, driven belt, line shaft and gravity;

c) horizontal and vertical conveyor switches;

d) mono rail, semi intelligent bag carrier;

e) dynamic revenue data capture devices;

f) dock interface systems;

g) ULD weighing and transport systems;

h) RF tagging systems;

i) Roller powered doors;

j) work as directed within an individual’s skills and capabilities.

The successful candidate will:

Hold a minimum of City and Guilds “C” certificate or an equivalent qualification on electronic, electrical or mechanical engineering.
Have a full appreciation of all aspects of H&S legislation and standards
Good interpersonal, communications and problem solving skills, as well as being computer literate with a proactive interest in technological progress.
Be able to work in a multi-skilled environment; with a qualification in at least one discipline with the ability to undertake work in other trades
