Job Purpose
•    This role is a key enabler in allowing RMG to take technical leadership of its capability to build high quality software solutions that are capable of operating at enterprise scale with significant transaction volumes, users and data.
•    The Lead Software Engineer will bring strong software engineering capabilities to bear to influence the design and implementation of enterprise software solutions whilst also bringing line management and leadership skills to enable the wider software engineering team to deliver innovative software in a timely manner.


In this role you will:
•    Play a key part in the design of software solutions in a complex IT estate.
•    Help build, lead and retain a multi-disciplined team delivering enterprise-scale technology.
•    Manage a team of software engineers, ensuring appropriate training, support and personal development.
•    Set up Agile Development teams and ensure appropriate monitoring and reporting is available on progress.
•    Apply architectural and engineering concepts to implement solutions that meet business requirements.
•    Help design technical architectures using standard tools and techniques.
•    Help to identify new technologies to adopt and take responsibility for the delivery of software solutions.
•    Manager supplier solutions and staff to ensure compliance with requirements.

 

Qualifications and experience required:
•    Previous experience of leading developers. Line management experience is not essential, but project leadership and mentorship is required as a minimum.
•    In-depth and up-to-date experience with C#/.Net development and a deep understanding of best practices in this area. 
•    Experience of developing and building applications and services within an Azure production environment (ideally PaaS). AWS or GCP is also acceptable.
•    Ability to develop extensible, testable and maintainable code.
•    Skilled in both server side and client side technologies.
•    Demonstrable experience of delivering high volume, low latency distributed software solutions.
•    Previous experience of working within a variety of development methodologies e.g. Agile/Waterfall.
•    Experience in solution delivery and a deep understanding of the SDLC.
•    Experience with React, Xaramin, Drupal is desirable but not essential.
