ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manager of Cyber Engineering is responsible for the development and management of the Cyber Security Engineering Team within Royal Mail across IT and all OT sites (~40); Security Platforms Operation, Security Tooling delivery across all technology led projects and future development of automation. This position engages with stakeholders across the business and technology up to the board. As a hands-on leader, this role is instrumental in defining the direction, delivery and continuous enhancement of both proactive and reactive cyber protective technology. Central to this position is the management and development of a robust cyber security engineering strategy, integral to our business operations. The role is crucial in both maintaining current cyber security standards and strategically shaping future cyber security initiatives. This role is fundamental in ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of Royal Mail's digital infrastructure, thereby playing a key role in the organisation's overall success.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Create and lead a dynamic Cyber Security Engineering strategy, ensuring it aligns with the evolving needs and strategic direction of the business for optimal security posture.
- Manage and oversee comprehensive security solutions, managed both within the team but also via suppliers. Maintain a dotted line reporting line from multiple key suppliers who provision multiple cyber services.
- Identify opportunities for “value-add" review and approval process, focusing on enhancing efficiency, automation and strategic alignment with business goals.
- Ensure that review and approval processes are robust and contribute significantly to meeting and exceeding organizational objectives.
- Engage in cyber technology renewal and new purchase activity, actively responsible for the cyber engineering budget. (~£4m)
- Create and manage a flexible resource and prioritisation model that is responsive to the business's changing needs, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Partner with the Cyber Architecture leadership to develop and execute a strategic, comprehensive Cyber Security Architecture strategy, enhancing overall security infrastructure.
- Lead the formulation and implementation of essential processes, policies, and standards, aiming for a more agile, responsive, and secure operational framework.
- Act as the authoritative figure for key projects, ensuring their alignment with strategic objectives and the achievement of operational excellence and business goals.
