Senior Qualified Solicitor – Employment Law
Competitive salary plus £5,000 cash equivalent car allowance, private healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential, 27.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays, company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates.

Location: You will be based out of our Royal Mail, 185 Farringdon Road, London, EC1A 1AA office OR Royal Mail Sheffield, S98 6HR office dependant on your geographical location 3 days each week. Flexibility to travel between London and Sheffield is required in line with business needs.
Join Royal Mail Group as a Senior Legal Advisor on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract and play a pivotal role in offering crucial legal counsel on employment, incentives, pensions, and industrial law matters to senior stakeholders. Your responsibilities will involve providing commercially focused employment law advice, identifying, and managing legal risks, and devising strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.

About the role
- Lead on advice for employment related projects including executive hires, issues and exits; key business projects (including investigations, restructures, TUPE transfers); industrial relations disputes and other complex litigation.
- Provide day to day HR Advice, including industrial relations law in partnership with the IR team and build strong relationships senior manager community and to be a strategic legal business partner for employment law issues.
- To support the AGC in driving forward Continuous Improvement, efficiencies, MI, best practice, and tech improvements. To implement increasingly “on demand” and “self-serve” options for colleagues in the business and develop and leading business training.
- To closely monitor legal trends, regulation and industry developments and proactively advise on and design solutions to evolving risks, opportunities, and best practice.
- To support and assist AGC and deputise where necessary by attending and advising and/or presenting appropriate high level legal advice to key executives, relevant steering committees, and business management teams.
- To develop and maintain strong relationships with panel law firms, driving forward best value and continuous improvements.
About You
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Legally Qualified Solicitor with circa 5 years + post-qualification experience in employment law ideally within a business either working permanently or on secondment within a large complex organisation or FTSE listed company.
- Expert knowledge and experience of employment and industrial relations law (ideally in-house/on secondment).
- Keeps up to date with relevant legal and industry developments.
- Experience of rigorous analysis of complex issues and proven delivery of pragmatic solutions to problems.
- Ability to manage internal and external teams to ensure delivery of appropriate quality advice to budget.
