This is a Remote working role with occasional travel to our London Farringdon office, with flexibility required in line with business needs. Some international travel will also be required at least once or twice per month.

Reporting into the Head of Postal Policy Multilateral, you’ll be responsible for the development and delivery of RMI’s multilateral strategy and policy. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of postal policies on a global scale as you engage with international forums, strengthen partnerships with postal and overseas allies, and navigate the evolving landscape of global relationships.

About the role 
•    Identify key priorities for RMG relationships with key multilateral groups (UPU/IPC/PostEurop), postal and overseas partners, delivering RMG's multilateral strategy and policy to meet the business priorities in relation to global multilateral forums and postal and overseas operators, whilst leading on specific forums within these multilateral teams
•    Lead and collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. business development, finance, operations, statistics, legal) to scope and design RMI’s multilateral strategy/policy objectives, including expected timelines and desired outputs  
•    Support the development of pricing models and align to the multilateral framework, advocating Royal Mail pricing/cost strategy for pricing structures and impact of bilateral arrangements, supporting multilateral renumeration processes within Royal Mail International
•    Respond to external challenges, including those on an unprecedented scale, leading on crisis management and adapting RMG’s strategy and policy as appropriate whilst engaging and helping to mitigate changes in regulatory policy which can impact on postal flows.  
•    Provide policy recommendations with Royal Mail and engage with UK Gov, EC and other legislators and regulators, to help manage outcomes which are beneficial to Royal Mail, working with policymakers, trade associations, and other bodies to ensure compliance with global agreements, and ensuring compliance with International trade frameworks.
•    Ensure RMI’s strategies and policies contribute to RMI’s wider business objectives 
•    Represent RMG on multilateral forums as appropriate (UPU/PostEurop/IPC etc)

 

About you 
To truly excel in role, you will possess the necessary skills and experience listed below – 

 

•    Experience of dealing with International Business/Post in a Multilateral environment 
•    Influencing and negotiating skills, political awareness, and sound commercial judgement is essential for this role
•    Demonstration of core values

          o    Professional knowledge and practical experience of customs procedures
          o    Professional knowledge and practical experience of international mail business
•    Leadership Breadth

          o    Work with and take input from business unit directors and senior managers 
•    Represent Royal Mail Group at senior level with a wide range of external stakeholders on multilateral postal matters

Qualifications 
•    Degree level or equivalent
