Regional Operating System Delivery Manager - x1 North East and x1 South East.

Location:   These are remote working roles covering two areas. Patch one - North East Area covering Peterborough, South Midlands, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Tyneside, and the surrounding areas. Patch two - South East, Chelmsford, Norwich, London Central, Romford, Croydon, Gatwick, and the surrounding areas. The successful candidates should live in or around patch, in close proximity to due to the travel required of the role.  A Full Valid UK Driving Licence is required.

Reporting into the Head of Operating Systems Deployment, you’ll be responsible for leading the deployment of the Improvement Strategy, for training others and for providing broad and deep technical expertise by deploying change management principles and tools to enable identification and delivery of improvement opportunities aligned to key business goals.

About the role

  • Responsible for ensuring that the key principals of the Improvement Strategy are embedded and utilised ensuring improved operational performance is achieved and exceeded. 
  • Responsible for x3 Direct reports.
  • Accountable for the consistent application of the plan, do, check, act cycle ensuring we learn the lessons and SQDCPE feedback,  
  • Accountable for generating, deploying, and maintaining the improvement products, tools, systems, and principles to help solve operational problems. 
  • Responsible for supporting the identification of pipeline value streams and unblocking issues that prevent value from flowing. 
  • Accountable for the relentless approach to simplifying an optimising the operational processes. 
  • Accountable for being an active coach and the conscience for the region and the pipeline in their Improvement leadership and personal commitment to Improvement and to promote ideal behaviours to obtain ideal results. 
  • Responsible for coordinating Improvement activity with business planning cycle to maximise results via increased visibility and rigorous benefit tracking. 
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing the wider team talent pipeline and succession plan through professional development.

 

About You

Experience and Qualifications required for this specific role:

Key Skills

  • Highly credible leader able to provide realistic solutions with excellent people & team management skills gained in a senior management capacity. 
  • A track record of solid data analysis and rigorous measurement of results, that are demonstrable and have been sustained, including powerful visualisation of standards in the workplace. 
  • Project planning: multi-element business case, financial plan, benefits realisation plan, risk management plan, project plan
  • Process mapping & analysis: Activity network diagrams, design structure matrix, process modelling, key function diagrams and analysis
  • Lean concepts and tools: Principles of Lean Thinking and Lean tools including origins and cultural aspects critical to successful application within an organisation.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and communicate with Improvement Practitioners, business leaders and stakeholders.
     

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Continuous Improvement & Improvement tools and techniques.
  • Successful deployment of change in a unionised environment.
  • Relevant industry experience and knowledge of mail operations (or similar dispersed manufacturing, network utility / logistics/ service organisations).
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Operational Pipeline environment.
  • Exposure to highly complex organisation structures and frameworks. 

 

Qualifications

  • CI Tools and Techniques.
  • Must have relevant skills and experience of Lean, Kaizen and Continuous Improvement to a minimum of Improvement specialist level 5 (or equivalent). Relevant accredited training and development would be required to be undertaken as part of the role.
