Royal Mail are looking for experienced DB Pensions Administrators to join its award-winning Pensions Service Centre in Sheffield.If you have experience of delivering a professional and efficient Defined Benefits Pensions administration service to members, then we have excellent opportunities to develop your career.

About Us
The Royal Mail Pension Plan (RMPP) has total assets of c. £12.5 billion as of March 2020, paying over £97 million in pension benefits across the financial year. The Plan closed to new members in 2008 but remains responsible for securing the long-term financial well-being of approximately 120,000 current and future pensioners.

The Pensions Service Centre administers the RMPP under contract to the Plan Trustee and currently employs around 63 people across all functions and delivers services across the entire membership experience.

Responsibilities include:
• Calculation and processing of members’ benefits based on their entitlements under the rules of the Royal Mail Pension Plan
• Communicating member pension entitlements and resolution of member queries
• Delivery of the service to agreed standards, in accordance with Plan rules and HRS service specification
• Take responsibility for own personal and professional development, ensuring that own technical knowledge remains up to date to enable continued delivery of an excellent service
• Develop and maintain positive, effective and professional working relationships with customers, clients, stakeholders and Royal Mail colleagues, delivering consistently excellent value-added service
• Undertake work in different teams within the Pension Service Centre according to business need.

Key knowledge, skills and experience

You need to be an experienced Pensions Administrator (essential) with the following skills and experience:


• Educated to at least A level standard with strong English Language and Mathematics at GCSE level (grades C to A*)
• Possess or be willing to study for a professional pensions qualification (e.g. Pensions Management Institute APE, CPA or DPA) via a Workplace Pensions Apprenticeship scheme
• Proven track record/demonstrable record as an experienced pensions practitioner with a broad understanding of pensions legislation, particularly DB and Career Average schemes in a public sector environment
• Proven experience of delivering a professional, customer focussed service
• A track record of working flexibly to ensure that customer requirements are delivered
• Demonstrably strong written and verbal communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of all Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Proven planning and organisational skills, including experience of delivering to demanding timescales
