Privacy Officer
Salary £34,955, with 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates.
Fixed Term, Full time, 35 hours.
Location: Royal Mail, Pond Street, Sheffield, S98 6HR. This is a hybrid working role with the expectation to attended the office Tuesday and Friday each week.

We are looking for a Privacy Officer to join our award-winning team at Royal Mail on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
As a Privacy Officer you will be involved in all aspects of Data Privacy, enabling Royal Mail Group and its subsidiaries to comply with their obligations under data protection and privacy laws. This includes data subject access and other rights requests, internal enquiries and complaints, data breach reporting (including external escalation) and enquiries relating to personal information.

About the role
As Privacy Officer you will:
- Be responsible for handling and managing the full life cycle of DSAR requests. Taking individual requests from Data Subjects, from initial contact through to final reply. Key to this role is the ability to gather and review information relevant to casework in line with the legislation, ensure it is handled correctly and reviewed appropriately, maintain accurate records, and provide advice and support to other functions in relation to data protection and privacy legislation.
- Take responsibility for gathering and reviewing information from across Royal Mail Groups in response to subject access requests and in relation to other information rights requests within the necessary timescales for RMG to comply with its statutory obligations.
- Fully investigate, report and escalate data protection incidents as well as managing enquiries and complaints relating to Royal Mail Groups processing of personal information and provide advice and support to other functions and colleagues dealing with data protection and information governance issues, promoting compliance with RMG strategy, framework, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable law.
About You
To truly excel in this role, you’ll possess, and be able to evidence, the essential skills and experience listed below:
- Previous experience of working in a data protection, information rights or records and information management role and supporting the full life cycle of DSAR requests is ESSENTIAL.
- Excellent knowledge of data protection and privacy compliance issues and applicable privacy and information governance law and good practice.
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills. This is vital for research and collation of data from stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated with good time management and 'can do' attitude, focused on seeking solutions with the ability to work to strict statutory deadlines.
