Salary - £39,443.02 per annum plus standby allowance £290 per week, when on rota, and appropriate overtime rate when attending the call, 22.5 days annual leave, rising to 25 after 5 years’ service plus bank holidays.
Contract Type: Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) - typical attendance will be 08:00 until 16:00 Monday to Friday however, flexibility is essential.
The successful applicant will be required to join an out of hours callout rota 1 in 4 weeks covering a wider area.
The Role
We are looking for an electrically biased Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Facilities Maintenance Team. In this role, you will need to demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical power and control wiring, and the inspection and testing of electrical installations. You will primarily focus on electrical maintenance across various FM systems. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to discuss work and progress with both customers and managers. Additionally, you must possess excellent organisational skills.
You will take on a proactive and dynamic role as the go-to person for any issues or challenges that the team of engineers in the area may face. Your support and expertise will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and resolving problems efficiently.
Flexibility is key, as you will need to travel to different sites within a specified geographical area. A vehicle will be provided for any required travel.
Key aspects of the role
- Maintenance of electrical systems on numerous commercial sites
- Expert fault finding and providing advice and guidance to customers in relation to equipment such as roller shutter doors and dock levellers.
- Have an understanding of all basic plumbing such as replacing taps, sinks, cistern filling / flush units and heating elements
- Supply knowledge in a range of technical situations, making personal judgments on how to undertake work to achieve quality, cost and time objectives
- Provide technical advice and guidance to other staff and customers in order to resolve problems.
- Manage the delivery of Corrective and Planned Maintenance to meet the performance measures detailed in the contract.
- Check and ensure all appropriate and approved paperwork is completed.
- Make personal judgments on how to undertake work to achieve cost, quality and contractual objectives
- Act as a role model for safety, setting an example to colleagues and customers
- Manage the relationship with the customer, and liaise with customers to ensure that the customer is fully informed
About You
- Electrical Certification: Must hold an Electrical certification such as the 18th Edition.
- Qualifications: Full electrical qualification of City and Guilds 2382 & 2391 testing and inspection certification.
- Experience: Planned maintenance experience of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Skills: Proficient in fault finding and diagnosis, with the ability to provide advice and guidance across all systems as needed.
- Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues clearly.
- Analytical Ability: Capable of analysing and understanding complex technical issues related to electrical systems.
- Additional Training: Ideally, IPAF and MEWP trained and qualified, and comfortable working at heights.
- Customer Interaction: Experience dealing with customers in a commercial environment.
- Driving Licence: Must hold a valid Full UK driving licence (no endorsements preferable) as this role involves travel within a specified geographical area.
- Computer Skills: Computer literacy is an advantage.
